Description

The Pillar, formerly known as The Obelisk, is located in Market Square and dates from around 1822. It features a cast iron fluted column set on a pedestal, which supports four scrolled arms that originally held lanterns. There is a plaque on the side of the ball that commemorates the gift to the town by John Day in 1822.
