Description
The Savings Bank, located at No. 44 on the south side of Thoroughfare, was built in the mid-19th century. This two-storey brick building is painted and features three sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor, along with a window above the vehicle entrance on the left. The building has brick flank pilasters and an eaves cornice, with stone lintels supported by consoles. The ground floor showcases a wooden bank front with fluted Greek Doric columns on either side of a central entrance. Nos. 40 to 44 (even), 52 to 84 (even), and 90 to 94 (even) form a group.
