Description

23 Wellclose Square is a mid-19th century house and shop that stands two storeys tall. It features a white brick exterior and a hipped roof covered with black-glazed pantiles, along with overhanging eaves. The rear of the building is timber-framed. The front displays irregularly-spaced flat pilasters, indicating it was specifically designed to accommodate a shop. On the right side, there is a flat-roofed canted shop window with a fascia that reads 'Baker & Confectioner, Estd. 1886'. Additionally, there are three small-paned sash windows set in deep reveals with flat arches, spaced irregularly. The entrance, located on the left side, is slightly projected and features a recessed door with six sunk panels framed by a moulded surround. This building is included for its group value.
