Description
Ancient House is a late 17th century to early 18th century house located in Framlingham on Albert Place. It has two storeys and an attic, as well as a basement. The building is timber-framed and features plasterwork that is pargetted between the windows in panels with raised surrounds, including four rectangular and two oval panels adorned with a laurel leaf pattern, swags in the top corners, and roundels at the bottom. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles, and there is an eaves cornice supported by paired brackets.
The house has a five-window range with cross windows, some of which have square leaded panes. On the ground floor, two original windows on the left have been replaced by a mid-19th century shop window and door. There are two flat-headed dormers in the roof. The central entrance is accessed by steps with wrought-iron handrails and features a panelled door with ten raised fielded panels, an eared architrave, panelled pilasters, and a flat hood. At the rear, there is a single-storey wing.
