Description

No 5 Old Market is an 18th century building featuring two storeys, a basement, and an attic with a bull's eye window set in a pediment. The structure is made of red brick and has a plinth. It boasts a steep pantiled roof, a wood ogee bracket cornice, and a pediment that spans the entire front. The building has three sash windows with flush frames and glazing bars. To the left, there is a six-panel door located in a pedimented wood case, which has rusticated jambs and keys, along with panelled reveals.

All four sides of the Old Market contribute to its overall character, and it occupies an important position near the town center. Nos 1 to 7 (odd) form a group, with No 5 having group value alongside No 3 and No 7.
