Description

No 1 Old Market is a building dating from around 1830 to 1840. It is constructed of red brick with pale dressings, which include a floor band, plinth flank pilasters, entrances, window jambs, and flat arches above recessed windows that feature vertical glazing bars. The building has an arched entrance with a fanlight and a door that has two vertical panels. It is topped with a slate roof and has pale brick chimneys at each end. This property is part of a group of buildings that collectively enhance the character of the Old Market, which is located in a significant position near the center of the town. Nos 1 to 7 (odd) are noted for their group value.
