2/14 Barn adjacent to Castle - Farmhouse

GV II

Barn, with a small stable attached on the north. Late C16. Timber-framed, with C20 weatherboarding and a red brick south gable end; corrugated asbestos roof. Frame in 3 bays: full height scuds; some replacement framing; a later porch projecting on the west from the middle bay. The tie-beams have bolted knees replacing the former long arched braces. Roof in 3 bays corresponding to wall bays: diminished principals, one row of unstepped butt purlins and one row of clasped purlins; reversed windbraces.
