Description
This building is a barn located at the entrance to Green Farm on the east side of Green. It dates back to the 16th century and was converted into a barn in the 17th century. The structure features a timber frame resting on a brick sill, with the frame exposed and brick infill on the south and part of the west side, while the rest is covered in dark weatherboarding. It has a steeply pitched roof that is boarded and covered with corrugated iron.
The barn consists of two bays and includes jowled posts, with a mid-height rail jointed in-line. The southern bay has five panels, while the northern bay has four panels, with brackets at the northern wallplate that once supported a projected northern gable truss. There are double-curved wind-braces at the southern corner and holes for wattle infill panels beneath the wallplate. The central truss features cranked braces, a collar, and inclined queen-struts, and the roof is of the clasped-purlin type. An additional northern frame from the 17th century includes step-jowls, straight braces to the tie-beam, a central post, and a staggered mid-height rail. A gabled porch has been added to the eastern side of the northern bay.
