Description

Law Hall Farmhouse is a house dating to 1737, as indicated by iron letters on the front. It is constructed of red brick, darkened with lighter red dressings, featuring alternate blue headers to the arches and a Flemish bond pattern. The roof is steeply pitched, covered with old red tiles, and features projecting boarded eaves supported by brick corbels.

The house is nearly symmetrical in design, with five windows across the front, extending over two storeys and including a cellar level. The front elevation includes a plinth and plat band, with slightly recessed original cross-windows fitted with iron opening lights and rectangular leaded glazing. Segmental arches feature over the ground-floor and cellar openings. A run of seven steps leads to a two-panel front door set in a heavy frame, topped with a mullioned two-light fanlight under a moulded flat hood. Iron letters are positioned on either side of a window above the door. A single-storey wing originally extended from the north end, but its roofline is now only visible as a shadow. Internal gable chimneys stand at each end of the building.

The rear wall contains a plat band, interrupted by a cross-window to the central stairwell, one cross-window to the first floor, and a two-light mullioned window to the ground floor, all situated near the north end. The shadow of a steeply pitched roof indicates a single-storey wing at the front but extending to two storeys at the rear.
