Description
College Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, following a two-cell plan. It features three mid-20th century casement windows with ovolo-moulded mullions, along with one original mullioned window on the first floor. A mid-20th century gabled porch with a three-centre arched boarded door is present at the entrance. Inside, there is an internal stack and a well-preserved exposed frame with exposed joists, original floorboarding, and many original doors. Above one of the ground floor fireplaces, there is a lower portion of a beam that is painted with heraldic devices, which are now somewhat faint, displaying alternate fleurs-de-lys and animals, possibly dogs, on a chequered background.
