Description
The Old Bell and Bell Cottage is a former inn that has been converted into two private dwellings. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of red brick with a slated roof. The building stands three storeys high and features a five-bay facade, with the leftmost bay angled slightly back around the corner. The bays are separated by brick pilasters. The windows are sash style with glazing bars set in flush frames, and they have slightly cambered brick arches. The first and third bays from the left were altered in the mid-20th century, with tripartite sash windows added to the ground floor. The fourth bay contains a segmental-arched carriageway entrance. There are two doorways: the second bay features an inset 19th-century half-glazed door with panelled reveals, a semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars, and a broad shouldered architrave. The right-hand bay has a 19th-century half-glazed door with a panelled surround and two small mid-20th-century windows on either side.
