Description
14 The Green is an estate cottage built around 1850. It is constructed of red brick and features a first-floor brick band, with a roof made of mid-20th century concrete plain tiles. The building is designed in a picturesque style and stands two storeys high. It has two windows with mullion and transom casements set under segmental arches, and there are gabled half-dormers on the upper floor. The original lattice cames are still visible in the upper part of each light. A central lean-to porch supported by timber posts leads to a boarded entrance door. The cottage has gable stacks, each with two square flues arranged diamondwise. It is included for group value as part of the model village of estate workers' cottages built around the green for Sir Morton Peto, designed by John Thomas.
