GV II

Post windmill. Mid C18 with considerable later alteration and rebuilding. Restored 1966-68 and now preserved by Sufolk County Council. Timber-framed and weatherboarded buck with 3 floors; tarred brick roundhouse with 2 floors, one of which is below ground. The roundhouse and the fantail are C19 additions. 4 dummy sails. The machinery has been removed with the exception of the cast iron windshaft and wooden brakewheel, both C19 replacements. Among the early carved inscriptions on the side girts are: 'I.Swan 174-' (probably 1749); 'W.Bedwell'; 'John.Swan 1754'.
