Description
Corner Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with additions from the mid-17th century and 18th century at the service end. It was restored around 1974. The building is timber framed and plastered, with the front wall either cased or rebuilt in brick, which is also plastered. It features a plaintiled roof and has two storeys with attics. Originally, it had a three-cell layout. There are four windows, which are 18th to 19th century three-light casements set under segmental arches. The entrance is a lobby with a gabled porch and a mid-20th century plank door. Inside, there is a heavy internal stack. To the left of the main structure is an 18th-century colourwashed brick dairy addition. The interior has been modernised; the hall and the original service area have been combined into one room, and the newel stairs to the first floor have been removed. Some new studding has been added. The ground floor features exposed joists and much of the framing, with the main floor beams at the 17th-century end displaying complex stop-chamfers. There is less visible timbering on the first floor.
