Description
The Old School House is a former school, now a private dwelling, dating from 1855. It is located on the east side of Main Road, Little Glemham. The building is constructed of red brick with diaper patterns created using black brick headers, and has a plaintiled roof. It is predominantly single-story with an attic, with a partial single-story section. The windows are set within splayed reveals. A full-height canted bay window is located to the west; this has been rendered and now features large pane casement windows added in the mid-20th century. The north wing has a five-light window with brick mullions and a crow-stepped gable featuring ornamental cappings to each step. Doorways are arched with shallow pointed tops and have boarded doors. A taller, square section to the south is topped by a timber bellcote, containing one bell, and has a pyramidal roof with a spike finial and weather vane. Wide overhanging eaves are present, along with three chimneys, each with two tall, coupled flues with oversailing courses. Two single-story extensions were added in the mid-20th century.
