Description

The Old School and School House, built around 1860, is a former school that is now closed and serves as a house. It is likely designed by S. S. Teulon. The building is constructed of red brick featuring burnt header diaper work and has a steeply pitched slate roof with brick kneelers and stepped verges, topped with wrought iron finials. Both the school and the house are T-shaped and connected by a single-storey porch. They feature a plinth and overhanging eaves with exposed rafters.

The school is a single-storey structure with three bays. It has a central window with four fixed lights, flanked by two two-light casements, all of which have chamfered brick reveals. Above the central window, there is an open timber gabled bellcote. Each gable end has triple lancet windows with elaborate cusped glazing bars at the heads, set in chamfered pointed surrounds. Additionally, there are triangular-headed chamfered doorways at each end, with ashlar scrolls inscribed with 'Girls' and 'Boys School' respectively.

The house is two storeys high and also has three bays. It features a central shouldered ashlar doorway with a planked door, flanked by two-light casement windows with cambered heads. Above the door, there is a slightly projecting bay with an arched base and brick pendants, containing a central single-light casement and a stepped verge to the gable, flanked by single two-light casements at the eaves.
