Description

No. 2 High Street is a house, now converted into 8 flats, built around 1840. It is constructed of red brick and features a pantile roof. The building has three storeys and a basement, divided into two window bays. On the right side, there is a six-panelled door with an overlight, framed by a timber surround. To the left of the door, there are two 20th-century six-over-six horned sash windows with rendered architraves. The first floor has two three-over-six sash windows, and the second floor has two three-over-three sash windows, all with segmental heads. The roof is low-pitched and was reduced in height in the 1980s. There is a truncated internal stack at the north gable end and a truncated south stack shared with No. 3 High Street. The north return is rendered. Inside, the staircase features stick balusters with turned newels on the ground floor, turned balusters on the middle floor, and stick balusters again on the top flight.
