Description

No. 83 is a mid-18th century house located on The Street in Kettlestone. It is a two-storey, five-bay building with attic space, constructed of red brick with a red pantiled roof. The ground floor features a plinth and four sash windows with glazing bars, set within flush wooden frames, each under a flat brick arch. A moulded brick plat-band runs across the first floor, above which are five further sash windows with glazing bars. A central, six-panel door has been altered to include glazing. It is sheltered by a wooden canopy supported by brackets. The house has a brick dentil eaves cornice, with a brick end parapet and stack to the west, featuring an external flue. An east stack sits on the end-wall line, though the roof pitch is shared with the adjacent building, No. 85. Two 20th-century dormers have been added to the roof. The interior includes a dog-leg baluster staircase leading only to the first floor.
