Description
No. 6 Northgate Street is a house that has been divided into two properties. It dates from the early 18th century and is constructed of colourwashed brick with a roof covered in red pantiles. The building is two storeys high and features a four-window range. The central entrance has a six-panelled door set within a timber doorcase that includes a reeded frieze. On either side of the door, there is a pair of horned sash windows without glazing bars, which are set within flush frames. A moulded brick platband runs along the first floor. The first floor is illuminated by two pairs of sash windows with 6/6 glazing bars, no horns, and also set within flush frames. The roof is gabled, with an internal gable-end stack on the east side and a shared stack with No. 7 on the west side. There is a sloping dormer in the roof. At the rear, there is a rendered cross-wing that features a pair of late 20th-century top-hung casement windows on the first floor, along with one gabled dormer in the main roof slope.
