Description
No. 7 Northgate Street is a shop and flat dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century and an early 19th-century rear extension. The building is constructed of rendered and colourwashed brick beneath a pantiled roof and has two storeys with a two-window range. The late 19th-century shop front features a recessed central entrance flanked by a 3/3 unhorned sash window on each side. To the right of the shop front is a plank door that leads to the first-floor flat. The first floor has two 2/2 horned sash windows. The roof is gabled, with one internal gable-end stack to the east that is shared with No. 6. The west gable is rendered due to the demolition of adjacent houses in the 1970s. At the rear, there is an attached one-storey and dormer attic extension with a pantiled Mansard roof. One of the two dormers features a tripartite sash with 2/2 glazing bars, while the other has a late 20th-century top-hung casement window. There is a central ridge stack. The interior has not been inspected.
