Description
33 and 34 High Street is a house that was originally a house and shop, now divided into two properties from the 20th century. It dates from the early 19th century and is built of brick with a slate roof. The building has three storeys and is arranged in three bays, with the first and second-floor windows in the center being blind. There are a pair of central 20th-century panelled doors beneath plain fanlights, with panelled reveals and a fluted doorcase that are modern copies of the original 19th-century design. The ground and first floors feature 6/6 sash windows, while the second floor has 3/3 sash windows, all set under gauged skewback arches. The left-hand ground-floor sash is a late 20th-century addition that fills a blocked shop front. The building has a gabled roof with partly external gable-end stacks. At the rear, there is a full-height gabled cross wing that was partly rebuilt in 1949 after sustaining bomb damage.
