Description

Holton St Mary War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, featuring a later 20th-century replacement Latin cross. Made of granite, the memorial is prominently located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary, which is listed as Grade II*, just to the west-south-west of the south porch.

The memorial consists of a small Latin cross on top of a tapering shaft that is circular in section, rising from a square plinth. This structure stands on a single-stepped, square base. A tablet on the front of the plinth displays the main dedicatory inscription, which reads 'IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF / [NAMES] / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY / 1914 - 1919'.
