Description

Holton Place is a house with a complex history, likely originating in the 16th century with a rear range, and a prominent front range built around 1700. Later alterations occurred in the 19th and 20th centuries. The rear range is timber-framed and rendered, with brick underbuilding and a plain tile roof. The front range is painted brick, potentially covering an earlier timber frame, and also has a plain tile roof. The left return has been rebuilt or reclad in red brick in a stretcher bond pattern. The house is laid out in an L-shape, with a 5-bay front of two storeys. A 19th-century six-panel door, partly glazed, is set within a bracketed doorcase. The windows are twelve-pane sashes. A first-floor band runs along the front, topped by a double dentilled cornice. Chimneys are located on the ridge of the left return and at the rear.
