Description
TM 03 NE HOLTON ST MARY B1070 (south west side) 2/2 - Laburnam House GV II House, incorporating former school house. Late C16-C17 with front range (former school house) 1748. Later alterations including C20 conversion of school house. Timber-framed, part underbuilt in brick, rendered. Plain tile roof, slate to rear extension. Red brick stacks. Earlier range L-plan with later addition in angle, later front range projects to form T-plan. 2 storeys, single-storey extension. C20 board door to left return of front range and further stable door (c.1985) to cross range in angle with front range. C20 casements throughout. Half-hipped roof to front range. Hipped roof to rear and cross ranges, extension under pent roof. Partly rebuilt external stack to right return of front range and to left return of rear range now incorporated into extension. Interior: framing visible in part. Earlier range has chamfered longitudinal beams with curved stops and exposed joists. Studded walls. Clasped purlin roof throughout. Front range built as schoolroom originally 1 storey, ceiling inserted later. Included for group value.
