Description

Fir Grove is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century and later. It features a rendered timber frame and gault brick construction, topped with thatched and plain tiled roofs. There is a gault brick side extension and a service extension at the rear. The building stands two storeys high with an attic. On the ground floor, there are two 3-light mullion and transom windows from the 18th century, along with a 19th-century porch that has a crow-stepped gable and two renewed 4-light diamond mullion windows. Above, there are three 3-light casement windows from the 18th century. A 19th-century gabled dormer showcases very elaborate coloured margin glazing and a decorative barge board. The house has one gable-end stack with two angled shafts and one later axial stack. A mid-19th-century gault brick side extension is located on the stack side. The building has two storeys and one bay, featuring opposing canted bays with single sash windows above, as well as 20th-century lean-to side extensions.
