Description

High Common Cottage is a former farmhouse dating from the late 16th century. It features a six-bay rendered timber frame and is topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. The building has two storeys and displays scattered fenestration, including diamond mullion windows, which are mostly renewed in their original mortices, with configurations of 8 to 3 lights. There is an off-centre axial stack and service doors that lead to a through passage on the west side. Inside, the principal beams are of heavy scantling, showcasing wide chamfers and stepped stops. Additionally, there are three surviving queen post trusses.
