Description
Limetree Farmhouse is a house, formerly a farmhouse, built around 1730 and altered later in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with a brick exterior and a roof made of black glazed pantiles. The late 18th-century facade faces southeast and has two storeys with three bays. The central entrance has a panelled door with glazed upper panels, and it is supported by acanthus-scrolled consoles beneath a moulded hood. On the ground floor, there are two three-light mid-19th-century cross casement windows, each with hoods on labels. The first floor has three similar but smaller windows without hoods, one of which has been replaced. The building has a dentilled eaves cornice and a gabled roof, with the gables supported by moulded brick kneelers. There are 20th-century internal gable-end stacks, a 20th-century outshut, and a 20th-century wing at the rear. Inside, the prominent wall plates and jowled principal studs are notable, along with a roof structure featuring two tiers of staggered butt purlins and collars.
