Description
Ashwellthorpe Hall is a brick house dating to circa 1600, with substantial additions made in 1831 and 1845, and later 19th-century extensions. It stands on a moated site, with the moat now partly dry. The original 1600 block is two storeys and has an attic, constructed of red brick, featuring a steep slate roof with crow-stepped gable ends. The gables are finished with moulded brick chimneys that have octagonal flues topped with star-caps. Only the east and west ends of this original range are visible, as the north and south sides have been altered. Each end features two restored, pedimented windows per floor, and smaller attic windows with dripmouldings.
