Description
High House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1640. It is constructed of colour-washed brick and has corrugated tile roofs. The building is in an L shape, with a slightly lower service wing at the rear. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring three bays with four original 6-light and two 5-light ovolo-moulded mullion and transom windows, all with stuccoed reveals. The entrance includes a double ovolo-moulded off-centre doorway that has a 19th-century panelled door, and there is a gabled metal porch with a decorative ridge. The farmhouse has gable-end stacks and crow-stepped gables, and retains its original fenestration on the rear and service wing. Inside, there are ovolo-moulded principal beams with barred, ogee, and nicked stops, and a winding stair located in the center. Several original planked doors feature fielded centre panels, with each lateral panel decorated by an inset narrow vertical strip of triangular section. The original roof includes collars.
