Description

This is a lobby-entrance type farmhouse dating to the 17th century with later alterations. The facade is of colour-washed brick and gault brick, with a black pantiled roof. It is two storeys high with an attic, and originally had six bays of 2 and 3-light casement windows with glazing bars, set beneath rendered skewback arches with keystones. One bay is canted, with French windows and sashes with glazing bars.

A staircase is located in an outshut to the rear, featuring a curved gable and a flat-hooded doorcase with plain consoles, a pulvinated frieze, and a raised and fielded panelled door. The roof is steeply pitched and hipped to one end, a feature added in the 18th or 19th century. A central axial stack has three original angled shafts alongside later gault brick shafts. A single dormer is present at the rear.

Inside, there is an original winding stair which leads from the first floor to the attic. The roof structure consists of eight principal trusses with collars and butt-purlins. The first floor retains some fine ovolo-moulded beams with elaborate stops.
