Description
Nos. 18, 20, and 20A St Benedict's Street are former buildings of unknown use that now serve as a shop and workshop. They date from the early to mid-16th century and the 18th century. The structures are built of flint rubble, with rendered brick and pantile roofs.
Nos. 18 and 20 are three storeys high and feature three bays, with 19th and 20th-century shopfronts on the ground floor. They have a crude 18th-century jetty, sash windows, and a plain cornice. No. 20A is two storeys tall, with an off-centre 19th-century door and irregular window arrangement. The block has been widened to the west, preserving the fine first-floor moulded battened ceiling. It is set back from the street line and positioned at right angles, reflecting a variant of the siting of medieval buildings in Norwich.
