Description
Nos 20A and 22 on High Street are 16th to 17th century buildings featuring a timber frame with plaster, painted in black and white. They stand two storeys high with an attic and have a gabled end facing the street. The buildings display carved corbel brackets, one of which features a human face, and later barge boards. There is an overhang at the second floor supported by a moulded bressummer, and two 18th century sash windows. The shop fronts are modern. These buildings were likely constructed after the Great Fire of 1583. They are part of a group that includes Nos 12, 16, 18A, 18, 20, 20A, and Nos 22 to 28 (even).
