Description
Nos 21 and 23 on High Street, known as Barclays Bank, date from the 16th to 17th century. The building has been significantly altered and restored. It features a timber frame with cemented brick, painted in black and white, and stands two storeys high. The façade includes three gables with restored barge boards and carved corbels between each gable. There are three fully restored six-light mullioned and transomed windows with leaded lights. The interior has undergone many changes but still retains a ceiling beam, which is now encased, in the banking hall, along with a framed partition made of heavy timbers that contains a well-crafted moulded door frame.
