Description

This is a pair of houses located at 61 and 63 Pottergate. The buildings date back to the 17th century and were rebuilt and raised in the late 18th century. They are constructed of red brick with a rendered plinth and have a pantile roof. The houses are three storeys high with six windows on the second floor, plus a small, blind window on the right-hand side. The central doorways have panelled doors, a rectangular fanlight, rusticated pilasters, and a simple architrave with a small, flat hood that extends over both doors. The windows are sash windows, with rubbed brick flat arches and glazing bars only at the first-floor level. There is a blind window at each floor on the extreme right. Architectural details include a cement stringband between the ground and first floors, a moulded timber stringcourse between the first and second floors, and a box cornice. Inside, there are 17th-century chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and a stranded 17th-century roof truss.
