Description

No. 8 Tombland is a Grade II* house that has been converted into a shop. The building dates from the 15th century, with possible alterations from the 18th century or earlier. It features rendered walls with applied timber-work on the timber-framed first floor and the end gable. The roof is covered with pantiles. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with two first-floor windows that include a 20th-century aluminium shop front, as well as part of the shop front for No. 9 next door. The first-floor sash windows have glazing bars, although one window has blocked lights. The gable has plain barge-boards and includes one small sash window. Inside, the roof structure is of the East Midlands type.
