Description

Nos. 5 and 5A on Tombland is a mid-18th century house that has been converted into offices. The building is made of brick and features a painted plinth. It stands three storeys tall and has a symmetrical arrangement of seven windows on the first and second floors. The entrance door consists of six raised and fielded panels set within panelled reveals. Above the door is a large hood adorned with Adam-style swag decoration on the frieze, supported by two pilasters and two Tuscan columns. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are set beneath flat rubbed brick arches, with one window on the right featuring horns. A moulded brick cornice runs along the top, and there is a later parapet with rendered coping above. Inside, the building boasts a Georgian staircase with twisted balusters.
