Description
No. 9 Ely Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 17th century and was refronted around 1800, with additional alterations made later. The building is constructed of brick with an internal timber frame and features a tiled roof with a brick stack at one end. It has two storeys and a single-window range, topped with a modillioned brick cornice. The shop front and entrance were updated in the 20th century, while the first floor has a 20th-century casement window. The roof is steep and has a hip on the rear wing. At the back, there is a gabled wing with a steep roof, and a 19th-century wing that is part of No. 8, which is not included in this listing. Inside, the building features exposed chamfered beams and wall posts, as well as roof trusses with collars and tie beams at the ends and in the rear wing.
