Description
No. 57 Ely Street is a town house that has been converted into an office. It likely dates from the 17th century but underwent significant reconstruction in the early 19th century. The building features a stuccoed brick exterior with a roughcast ground floor and a slate roof topped with a brick cross-axial stack. It stands three storeys high and has a three-window range, complete with a cornice at the top.
The entrance is located at the right end and features a 20th-century door set within a moulded doorcase. To the left, there is another entrance with a 20th-century door situated between canted bay windows that have cornices and fixed glazing arranged in a 4:16:4-pane configuration. The upper floors have windows with sills, including 12-pane sashes on the first floor and 6-pane sashes on the second floor. On the right side, there are lead rainwater goods, and a cast-iron inset bootscraper with a four-centred head is also present. At the rear of the building, there are two gabled wings.
