Description
58 Ely Street is a town house that has been converted into offices, dating from around 1820. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick and features a slate roof with a brick end stack. It is designed in the Georgian style and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range. There is a platt band above the ground floor and a cornice at the top.
The entrance, located at the right end, includes a doorcase with incised pilasters and a bracketed pediment, along with an overlight above the half-glazed door. To the left, there is a large canted bay window that has a cornice and renewed sashes arranged in a 4:16:4 pattern. The upper floor windows have sills and feature 4-pane horned sashes, while the second floor has 6-pane windows. The ground floor canted bay has 20th-century glazing and lacks glazing bars. A good wrought-iron sign bracket is also present.
At the rear, the building has sashed windows and a rainwater head dated 1823. There is a two-storey rear wing that includes a window with a 30-pane sash. Inside, there is a stick-baluster staircase.
