Description
This outbuilding, likely a malthouse, dates from the 16th or 17th century and has undergone later alterations. It features a timber frame with brick and rubble underbuilding and a renewed tile roof. The structure is two storeys high and has a seven-window range. The 18th-century brick underbuilding at the front includes an entrance to the left of centre and six segmental-headed windows with small-paned fixed glazing. The first floor has an entrance accessed by a 20th-century iron staircase and several three- or four-light windows. The square framing includes some braces and a central beam above the windows, positioned lower than the eaves. The rear displays a rubble ground floor and some exposed wattle panels on the first floor, which has blocked windows. Inside, there are heavy chamfered beams on the ground floor and an end brick fireplace, along with partly exposed roof trusses on the first floor. This building is a notable remnant of an ancillary structure associated with a town house, previously owned by John Rogers of Harvard House.
