Description

The Queen's Head Inn is a public house located in Stratford-upon-Avon, dating from around 1600 with later additions and a refronting in 1800. The building features timber-framing with painted brick facing and a tile roof, which has some slate at the rear and is hipped at one end. It has an L-plan layout with Georgian style elements and stands two storeys tall, showcasing a five-window range.

The top of the building is adorned with a modillioned brick cornice. The entrance, positioned to the right of the center, is framed by an architrave, frieze, and cornice, leading to a six-panel door. Flanking this entrance are two-storey canted bay windows. To the left, there is a segmental-headed carriage entrance with plank doors, and next to it is another segmental-headed entrance featuring a half-glazed door.

The left end has a bay window with 4:12:4-pane horned sashes, while the canted bays each have 4:16:4-pane horned sashes on both floors. The first floor has segmental-headed windows, with the one between the bays being blind. There is a three-light 20th-century casement and a six-pane sash window on the left end. The right return of the building is blind.

At the rear, there is a gabled wing with a later gabled addition that runs parallel to the front, along with a right end catslide outshut featuring a slate roof and a small single-storey wing to the left. The rear also includes a segmental-headed carriage entrance and varied fenestration, including a horizontally sliding sash. Inside, the building retains exposed timber-frame elements.
