Description

Longlands Farmhouse and Cottages is a farmhouse built around 1795 by Samel Wyatt, featuring later alterations and extensions. The building is constructed from gault brick and has hipped slate roofs along with a lead flat roof. Originally, it was a two-storey and attic, three-bay house with one-storey pedimented side wings. The farmhouse has sash windows with glazing bars and gauged arches above the openings. A plain brick band runs at first floor level, and there are moulded brick eaves. The central porch has a pedimented doorcase and a pierced brick balustrade, with two-light side windows that include semi-circular fanlights. Lunette attic windows are present in the east wall, and there are three large chimney stacks topped with moulded brick caps. On the west side, there are additions from the late 19th century and early 20th century. To the east, there is a range of early 19th-century cottages with a hipped pantile roof. These cottages are two storeys high and feature iron casement windows with glazing bars. A lean-to pantile roof forms a loggia with a centrally placed brick porch, and there is a projecting one-storey hipped wing on the north side.
