Description
This barn, located to the northwest of Longlands Farmhouse, dates back to around 1750 and has undergone alterations and additions in the late 19th century. It was built for the Holkham Estate and features red brick construction topped with a pantile roof.
The front elevation faces south and includes three double doorways, each sheltered by porches with hipped roofs. The double doors are positioned at the center and to the right, with lean-to loose boxes situated between the doorways. The upper walling displays square panels of honeycomb brickwork, with ventilation slits below.
On the rear elevation, there is an altered double doorway at the center and another to the left (east), while the right-hand doorway has been blocked. Late 19th-century cast iron casements have been added to both the front and rear walls. The gables now feature double doors and late 19th-century lean-tos at the northeast and northwest corners. Additionally, there is a large sundial on the east gable.
The interior has not been inspected. This barn is part of a group of late 18th-century estate buildings at Longlands.
