Description
Quarles Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse, possibly a remodelling of an earlier house. It is constructed of gault brick, with some red brick that is partly limewashed, and features a pantiled roof. The building has a 'T' shaped plan with a brick and flint wing on the east side. It stands two storeys high and has sash windows with glazing bars. The eaves are moulded and dentilled, and the north gable has a parapet with an internal brick chimney stack. There is an off-centre doorway that features a part-glazed six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above it, framed by a moulded wooden door surround and canopy. At the southwest corner, there is a slated lean-to with a half-glazed entrance door topped by a decorative fanlight, which is likely a reset feature. The farmhouse has four chimney stacks, three of which are located on the ridge line, while the fourth is an external stack on the east gable.
