Description

The stable block, built around 1792, is located immediately west of Longlands Farmhouse. It was designed by Samuel Wyatt for Thomas Coke of the Holkham Estate and features red brick construction with a pantile roof. The building has a linear south-facing layout, with two-storeyed pavilions at each end topped with pyramidal roofs. The eastern section includes a horse yard that is enclosed by shelter sheds, while the western half has been converted into a dwelling.

On the front (south) elevation, there are stable doorways with arched heads set beneath slightly advanced yellow brick pediments. Window openings with cast iron frames have been inserted between the door openings. The stall dividers remain in place in the eastern half of the stable block. This structure is part of a notable group of buildings on the Holkham Estate, all designed by Samuel Wyatt for Thomas Coke.
