Description
Clipstone Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1800. It is constructed of red brick and has a roof covered with black glazed pantiles. The building is two stories high and features three bays, with two additional bays on the returns. It has a symmetrical, four-square block design in the neo-classical style reminiscent of Samuel Wyatt, typical of the Leicester estate.
On the ground floor, there are two tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, alongside a central six-panelled door that includes margin lights with glazing bars and a simple fanlight above. The door is set within a segmental arched recess made of rubbed brick, which is filled with header bond brick. The first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, each positioned under cambered rubbed brick arches. The eaves cornice is made of moulded gault brick dentils. The roof has a shallow pitch and features two stacks.
The south return of the farmhouse includes two ground floor and two first floor sash windows with glazing bars, all under rubbed brick arches. The north return consists of three bays with two ground floor and two first floor sash windows, also under arches. The central six-part fielded door is located under a pentice supported by cast iron brackets, set within a segmental brick arched recess.
At the rear, there is a two-story service wing, along with a single-story gabled wing that is positioned at right angles to the main building, and another single-story wing that continues on the same axis. All these extensions are made of red brick and pantiled, with some cast iron casement windows.
