Description
North Lodge is the entrance lodge to Wolterton Park, built in 1914 using 18th century stone dressings from the demolished St Anne's House in Kings Lynn. The lodge is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with a high ashlar plinth at the front and stone dressings. The roof is hidden by a parapet.
The building has a square double depth plan featuring two main front rooms, a central entrance, and service rooms at the back, all designed in a Georgian style. It stands two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-bay west front facing the drive. The central bay projects forward and features a stone pediment containing arms. The facade includes stone quoins, a moulded cornice, and parapet coping. The large moulded stone eared window architraves have keystones, with the ground floor windows having cambered heads and plain stone aprons. The sash windows have glazing bars, with the ground floor featuring 12-pane sashes and the first floor 9-pane sashes. The central doorway is framed by a similar eared architrave, topped with a large rectangular fanlight that has cobweb pattern tracery, and a fielded six-panel door. A large stone porch with Tuscan columns and an entablature canopy enhances the entrance. The north and south side elevations are asymmetrical but feature similar stone window architraves and sashes.
Inside, the right-hand front room is panelled, while the left-hand front room has a marble chimneypiece.
