Description

The Garden House, which includes the front garden area wall to the south, is an estate gardener's house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, possibly a remodelling of an earlier structure. It is constructed of red brick in both English and Flemish bonds and features a red clay pantile hipped roof with deep eaves at the front, supported by soffit brackets, and a pyramidal roof at the higher centre with a brick stack at the apex.

The building has a rectangular plan with a central entrance that faces a small walled front garden, located in the northwest corner of the main walled garden. It is designed with one and two storeys and has a symmetrical south front with a 2:1:2 bay arrangement. The outer two bays on the ground floor have large 12-pane sash windows, while the centre bay features a flush panelled and glazed door with a gabled porch supported by wooden posts. Above this door, in the centre of the two-storey tower, is a smaller 12-pane sash window, topped by a pyramidal roof. At the rear, there are similar 12-pane sashes in the centre. The front garden area wall, which is included in the listing, is made of Flemish bond red brick with red clay pantile capping and has a curved corner. The interior has not been inspected.
