Description

Dairy Farmhouse is a house, now divided into two houses, likely built in the early 19th century. It features gault and red brick construction with a black glazed pantile roof and has an irregular plan. The front is made of gault brick and consists of three gabled bays. The central bay, which is two storeys tall with an attic, has a four-panelled door with sidelights in the upper half, all beneath a quatripartite fanlight. The flanking bays, which are one storey and have attics, project slightly and contain circular-headed sash windows with glazing bars that radiate at the top. The floor level cuts these windows, leaving the top part blank. On the first floor, the central bay features a tripartite sash window with glazing bars and a segmentally arched head, also cut by the floor level. Above this, there is an attic sash window with a square head under a segmental arch. The left flanking bay has a 20th-century casement window in the attic, while the right bay has a sash window that may have been inserted. All three bays have oversailing eaves. The back of the house is in red brick with gault gables, and the two projecting gabled bays mirror the front. The ground floor has square-headed sash windows with glazing bars, and above these are semi-circular headed sashes with radiating glazing bars. There is another semi-circular headed sash window in the attic of the central section. A 20th-century porch has been added to the south, and there is a single-storey range to the north that has no special interest.
