Description

The Hollies is a house that has been divided into two properties, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and features a roof made of black-glazed pantiles. The south-west front has two storeys with three-window bays at the first-floor level. The ground floor is illuminated by two mid-19th century three-over-three sash windows located to the right and left of the entrance door. These sashes are topped with gauged skewback arches. The entrance door is six-panelled, with the upper two panels being glazed and set beneath a plain overlight. The reveals are panelled, and the plain timber doorcase is supported by a pair of consoles beneath a flat hood. There is an ovolo-moulded platband at the first floor, and three late 20th-century replica three-over-three sash windows. A dentil eaves cornice runs below the gabled roof, and there are internal gable-end stacks.

To the north-west gable, there are two late 19th-century additions. The first is a two-storey block with a gabled pantile roof, featuring a half-glazed door to the right and a 20th-century two-light casement window to the left under a segmental head, along with another 20th-century two-light casement window above the door. This section also has an internal gable-end stack on the north-west side. Adjacent to this is a single-storey range with a dormer attic and a hipped pantiled roof, which is now a separate house known as The Nest. The north-west return serves as the entrance front, featuring 20th-century extensions and details, along with a stack in the north-west roof slope.
